Contemporary Noise Sextet

When a band says that it plays jazz music without jazz and film music without films, you do not need to wonder about whether they might be overdoing it a little when they call themselves “noise”. Although: mastermind Kuba Kapsa and some of the musicians lead by him actually do have their musical roots in the Polish hard core scene. Nonetheless, the strategically chosen band name, Contemporary Noise Sextet, has got them shelter under the bustling label “Denovali”. And now one can read discussions in metal magazines where the word ‘jazz’ comes up every now and then, and is shrugged off. A closer look at this music will actually rather remind you of Cinematic Orchestra or the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, and, when Tomek Glazik shifts into gear, perhaps the early Gato Barbieri will also spring to mind. But above all the six musicians play very modern experimental, dynamic instrumental music of sublime beauty, which does not care about how it is classified.
