In June 2008, a little bit over five years ago, the Swedish pianist and composer Esbjörn Svensson died in a diving accident. With that, after 13 albums and countless concerts, came the unexpected end of the one of the most influential and successful bands in the last 20 years: e.s.t. It is now time to have a “new” look at e.s.t.’s music and Esbjörn Svensson’s compositions from a slightly shifted perspective. Early on, Svensson started working on a program that arranged e.s.t.’s music for chamber orchestras and jazz soloists for special occasions. With this, e.s.t. performed at the Jazzbaltica at the side of Pat Metheny in 2003. Svensson’s arrangements are complemented by an orchestra arrangement by the Swedish conductor and arranger Hans Ek. Besides the two e.s.t. musicians Dan Berglund and Magnus Öström, a range of further top class soloists will also perform at Enjoy Jazz. After the successful premiere in Stockholm and further concerts in cities such as Istanbul and Rotterdam, this extraordinary project will have its first performance in Germany at Enjoy Jazz.
