The All Too Human Quartet resides somewhere between ambient and electronic Miles Davis, dark jazz, funk, prog rock and post rock without paying much attention to boundaries. The sound of Marc Ducret’s guitar is piercing and jarring and the sound of Kasper Tranberg’s sometimes floats and sometimes meanders wildly and sounds as if it is from a different era. Simon Toldam has specially selected historical synthesizers that form a foundation. Peter Bruun, who is on drums and keyboard, adds tact, structure and eruptive elegance. In 2017, the four musicians got together, complementing their different ideas. Peter Bruun is a member of ILK (Independent Label of København), a collective which aims to offer a platform for the lively Copenhagen jazz scene. He was a member of the Django Bates’ trio Belovèd (ECM) and the Samuel Blaser trio. Kasper Tronberg has worked with Steve Swallow, Tim Berne, Tyshawn Sorey and Yusef Lateef. Marc Ducret played in the Louis Sclavis quartet and with Tim Berne, amongst others. Simon Toldam, like Bruun, is part of the ILK scene, and leads his own trio. He often plays with Han Bennik. This quartet brings together ample experience and an abundant joy of experimenting, which you can certainly hear!
