“These voices are like no choir you ever heard. They can form pale clouds of sound, or pools of glowing light, or bright shafts of pure sound,” as Richard Williams, former director of the Jazzfest Berlin, writes in the liner notes of their current album “Rooms & Rituals”. He could be just as enraptured about the ensemble’s energy, eccentricity, sensuality and playfulness and their courage to abstract sound into sounds of nature or »field recordings«. The Trondheim Voices are a pool of Norwegian vocalists who have been working together since 2001. Thanks to their unique effect controllers, “Maccatrols”, invented by sound designers Asle Karstad and Arnvid Lau Karstad, they are able to react to specific concert halls and create wide electroacoustic soundscapes with echoing, delays, loops and material for live sampling while the musicians freely move around in the space.Trondheim Voices remind the listener of Meredith Monk, amongst others, and have performed compositions written specifically for them by Jon Balke (Batagraf), Christian Wallumröd and Stale Storlökken (Supersilent).

The concert by Trondheim Voices will be live remixed by Punkt's artistic directors Jan Bang and Erik Honoré, and the audience may listen to the remix immediately after the concert. At Enjoy Jazz, Bang and Honoré have invited the German percussionist Erwin Ditzner to take part in the live remix.

Punkt – at the core of a natural network
Punkt is a music festival in the city of Kristiansand in the south of Norway. The festival concept is centered around the concept Live Remix. This concept is an extension of how the curators of the festival, Jan Bang and Erik Honoré, have worked with a range of Nordic and international musicians; with live sampling and live electronics, and as record producers and remixers. Many prominent musicians and guest curators have contributed to the Punkt project, including Brian Eno, David Sylvian, Laurie Anderson and John Paul Jones.

The concert is seated.
