The Beyond Borders Band will have already drawn the attention of Enjoy Jazz visitors three years ago when they performed with the Haz'art Trio at the Alte Feuerwache. This time, the four of them will be playing on their own - and will be only heard, not seen. Enjoy Jazz’s special Concert in the Dark at the Schloss-Schule Ilvesheim State School for the Blind is now taking place in for the eighth time. Both the stage and the hall will be in total darkness and students of the school will lead the audience to their seats. This unusual evening requires the listener to surrender to the experience with other senses and develop a different awareness of the music. The four musicians met at a workshop named “Orient meets Occident” in 2011. Their music also crosses borders and, with the oud and different influences of their musical backgrounds - maqam, rock and blues - they have been weaving together a filigree tapestry of European, American and Arabic traditions ever since. “Music is our mutual language,” says Niko Seibold, and their communication works beautifully.
