Circles will be completed this evening: In 2014, Alexandra Lehmler from Mannheim had just been awarded the regional jazz award “Landesjazzpreis Baden-Württemberg”. At the time Enjoy Jazz introduced her programme at the Heidelberg Karlstorbahnhof with “Alexandra Lehmler invites ...”. She was completely free to choose her dream band! And she finally found whom she wanted in Paris, where she had experienced Orchestre National De Jazz concerts with Herbert Joos, Franck Tortiller and Patrice Héral. The “dream team” played its premiere in Heidelberg and continued together, the chemistry was right, and they finally produced the album “Sans Mots” in the Ludwigsburg Bauer Studios. The circle now completes when they present their poetic music with a Mediterranean touch in Heidelberg once again. But Alexandra Lehmler would not be Alexandra Lehmler if she hadn’t designed the cover of Sans Mots relating to a story, with a feministic touch and a pinch of humour. The big issue is: how can the exciting and ambitious project of successfully synchronising the role of being a musician, free artist, mother and partner. Or put differently: why does jazz still give the impression of being a male sport?
