The idea is not new, but it is sometimes seductively appealing to musicians. And, live, it has a touch of circus event that captivates the audience. So: why not let the DJ and laptop machine music stand you upside down? Once you understand the dramaturgy of techno or electro tracks that work, reproducing them with analogous devices should be possible through repetition, retardation, heightening and dissolving tension. This is a little tongue-in-cheek and a different concept of virtuosity. Disciplined virtuosity. Who would like to count the number of Kraftwerk covers? Projects and musicians like Elektro Guzzi, Brandt Brauer Frick, Francesco Tristano, martello_bloched and Manu Delago Handmade and many others have worked on different ways of creating aesthetics like these. And now a trio from Lübeck that has been around since 2015 joins them. With two synthesizers, amplified cello, a classic drum set and various filters and effect devices Aggregat play their own compositions, inspired by minimal and electro, allowing them to improvise and creatively interact with the audience. It is about regaining spontaneity and real-time communication. First feedbacks on Aggregat performances from the north: this is going to be cool!
