Therapists sometimes recommend to their patients to do something creative in order to work through traumatic events, painful memories and depression. William Fitzsimmons studied psychology and seems to have taken this advice for himself: As he has openly said in interviews, he worked through his parent’s divorce with the album “Goodnight” (2006) and through his own divorce with the album “The Sparrow and the Crow” in 2008. Now the singer’s second wife has left him, she had an affair with the drummer of his band of all people. His near-ready album “Mission Bell” almost shattered at the time, but in the end it only got slightly dented and took on a completely different course. Fitzsimmons uses autobiographic material for his tender-melancholic folk song writing, which he has refined over the years, as can be heard on “Mission Bell”. However, there is also a quality of lightness and serenity that one can perhaps only achieve by overcoming a crisis. The album was produced in Nashville with producer Adam Landry. The city’s aura has brought many melancholic people back on the right musical path.

The concert is not seated.
