Over 20,000 people at the 11th International Festival for Jazz and More – Enjoy Jazz
After 41 days, 65 concerts and various supporting events such as matinees, masterclasses and jazz aperitifs the festival came to an end for the year 2009.
The festival can look back on a successful five and half weeks in the three cities of Mannheim, Heidelberg and Ludwigshafen. Over 20,000 people came to the concerts between 02 October and 11 November 2009 - a remarkable outcome. About 16 concerts sold out – amongst which were concert highlights such as Charles Lloyd New Quartet, Jan Garbarek, Cassandra Wilson, Joshua Redman and Branford Marsalis.
Two big special features contributed to the festival program this year: “The blue sound – 40 years of ECM” recognised the 40-year existence of the internationally renowned label ECM over four days of exquisite concerts and a symposium involving several distinguished guests. Many guests from all across Germany as well as international guests traveled especially for this event. On 30 October 2009 the Norwegian festival PUNKT was invited to the Alte Feuerwache Mannheim and introduced their unique concept of presenting a live concert and them remixing it.
Enjoy Jazz 2010 will take place between 02 October and 13 November 2009!
