Enthusiasts and connoisseurs of advanced classical guitar music who appreciate an original repertoire and unusual projects already know Zsófia Boros. The Hungarian lives in Vienna, was born in Prague in 1980, studied in part simultaneously in Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and Pordenone, and completed her studies with distinctions. Since 2005, she has been awarded a surprising number of prizes at international competitions. She also created the duo AgiLeo with flutist Daniela Lahner, and the duo anDANZAS with step dancer Sabine Hasicka. Boros’ first solo album “Musicbox” (2008) has compositions by Antonio Lauro and Leo Brouwer, as well as “Drei Tonspiele” by Wolfgang Muthspiel. Boros’ first solo ECM debut “En otra parte” was released in September and engages with American music in the broadest sense. The composers once again include the Cuban Leo Brouwer, and also the Argentinians Abel Fleury and Quique Sinesi. Quique Sinesi became famous through is collaboration with Dino Saluzzi. Boros’ “chosen ones” also include Ralph Towner and Dominic Miller. A highly ambitioned repertoire, which really spans a large narrative bow!
